Kent Event Marshals (KEM) provide motorcycle marshalling and support services for charitable and commercial organisations across the UK and Europe.

What do we do?

We provide superior motorcycle support for events, specialising in cycling events on public roads.

Our services are also available for any event that requires an organised motorcycle presence.

Our team comprises a small, highly motivated group of expert riders, all of whom hold advanced motorcycle qualifications, are trained in traffic management and hold First Aid certifications.

About Kent Event Marshals

Where do we do it?

Originally in the south east of England but now anywhere in Europe. In 2018 we have covered events from Leeds to London, London to Folkestone, London to Portsmouth, Lands End to London and Copenhagen to Berlin.

Events are normally of two types:

1) The Kent or south east section of a London to Paris event where we typically support an event convoy consisting of a lead car, a cycle peloton of up to 200 cyclists and paramedic and cycle mechanic support vehicles.

2) Circular route events, normally for charity, where the start and finish are the same location and there are normally routes of different lengths e.g. 35, 75 and 100 miles. Cyclists set off from the start in small groups or individually and we patrol the entire length of all routes providing support wherever it is required.

Support includes dealing with road traffic collisions, injured cyclists, cycle breakdowns, replacing missing or altered route signage, reporting on  participants’ progress or any other tasks assigned by the event organisers.

For these duties all KEM members need to have a first aid qualification and be able and equipped to assist with cycle breakdowns.

Regular circular/charity events every year include two for the Pilgrims Hospices, the circuit of Kent and Cycle for Heroes.

Our members

Our organisation consists of members who have achieved qualifications in IAM, RoSPA, police motorcycling, or any other recognised standard.

Our members comprise of both serving and retired police officers, ex-military personnel, lawyers, chartered engineers, a London taxi driver, a postman, a retired GP, and others who bring valuable life skills to the table.

Many of our KEM members serve as IAM observers.

Recruits/trainees should have one of these riding qualifications or be actively working towards it.

Join us

We are a group of friendly and professional bikers who enjoy riding and having fun. We also believe in giving back to the community and helping others whenever we can.

Our expertise and reputation have grown over the years, to the point where we are now asked by other motorcycle support groups to help with their events, and we get reimbursed for our services.

If you love riding your motorcycle, want to contribute to society, enjoy working in a team, and want to add something extra to your riding while getting paid for it, then KEM is the group for you.

We are always looking for new riders to join our team.
